Changing Colors

Sometimes, it's easier to speak in metaphorical tongue rather than state the obvious. Say something out of your ordinary babbles and everyone around you would assume that there's a problem in your corner. Explaining why I did what I just did isn't exactly one of my strong suits. You see, there's a difference between explaining the facts as you saw them and being defensive about the circumstances. And often in that difference, do I find myself misinterpreted by most. To prevent myself from getting entangled into deeper complications, let's leave the obvious and start with the metaphorical context.

2 days before the graduation, all the would-be graduates were called to school for our third to final (there was the Recognition Rites the following day which I opted not to attend anymore) school activity. And let me tell you there's no better way for you to feel you're truly graduating than wearing your toga for the first time. It's in that instance where we all had to put it on did I feel the completion of all the things I worked for in the past 3 and a half years. That was it, I was truly graduating. More than the excitement though, I was bothered. I'm a very sprightly person. I hate doing nothing. Whether I'm doing something I would benefit from in the future or doing something that would incriminate me eventually, I always prefer being busy. That's why I couldn't get off my frustration, even when I was already in my academic attire. I knew I was headed to a few months (which I hope will end soon) of nothingness. Who knows how the rest of the year would unfold for me and though I do not despise the unknown, I fear the future.

Enough of my sentiments!
If I were to study college once more, I would've chosen De La Salle University over and over and over again. I highly doubt there's a more suitable university for me in the country. I liked all the competent professors (Sir Gojocco who taught me Philosophy, Sir Villacorta from my Great Works class, Sir Lim of Market1, Ms. Reyes who taught me Statistics2, and of course my thesis mentor Ms. Lysa were my favorites) I had the privileged to be under to, the top of the line technology used inside the campus, the well-constructed and decorated buildings especially the recently risen Henry Sy library, and of course the type of students who were admitted in DLSU. I'm not a snob but I take pride in knowing that majority of the people I came across with, either in a class we shared or just along the halls as we transferred from one building to another, are the future shapers of various industries in the country.

FOR ALL THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES YOU'VE LET ME EXPERIENCE, THANK YOU DLSU! I now understand why the graduates of this university are still in one with the activities of the present batches spiritually, physically, and financially. La Sallian education is indeed incomparable.

Thank you for all the photos, Hannah!

My World is Changing

It's Christmas time again, yahoooo! I can't help singing along my Christmas playlist.
Where are you Christmas
 Do you remember
The one you used to know
And to start my December posts, I'll upload a few backlog pictures. Coincidentally, I was wearing red here! It seems that 2012 won't make it to my best years list but this doesn't mean that I won't look forward to Christmas. Nothing can ever dampen my Holiday spirit :) These pictures were taken last 17 November but I've only gotten my hands on these earlier this week. Let it be said that I'm a Twilight fan! I'm not denying it anymore. I don't just like the story. I love it! I've read the books before they began showing in the movies and this saga has been one of those few book to movie translations that I approved of. On top of which is Harry Potter but let's not delve into so much of that, for now. Here's what I wore for that night:

Hahaha, I can't let the opportunity of posing with Cinderella on Podium's makeshift castle pass, can I? I'm a Disney Princess - wannabe.

Thanks to Lala Ester for the pictures

I am Tinman

Everything around me seems to be contradicting each other. Just like the sun. It seems to be playing a "Now you see me, Now you don't" trick on us, so relying on it in deciding what to wear is like taking the first step of outfit failure. So I just decided to trust whatever color would pop into my mind and work with it, not considering if it'll be weather appropriate or not. Everyone in the household went to the mall over the weekend to catch the movie Brave and while I was waiting for them to settle down, I gallivanted on my own, trusting the pocketmoney my mom gave me. Hah! This girl knows how to survive on her own, for your information you doubters. Of course, only if the mom supplies her with tools for survival.

There's a difference between being downright heartless and not having the capacity to feel anything at all. Just like Tinman.

I am so fascinated with the story of Tinman from the story of The Wizard of Oz. I guess his character is the amalgam of all the feelings of pain, betrayal, hurt, loss, apostasy, and suffering. There came a point when it was either continuous suffering or death. But then along the way, he found out that there's another option: numbness. Not everyone has the ability to shy away from whatever is agonizing them so when you've developed such ability, treasure it. Hone it. Exercise it. Life throws us in different situations. It depends solely on each of us how we'll react on these things. I choose to be like the Tinman. I am Tinman.

Broooooom! Did I just hear your Ferrari speeding away?

As I was going home last 30 May 2012, something zoomed beside the cab I was riding in - a red Ferrari convertible with plate number GEL 111. Just kidding! It zoomed too fast along Osmena Highway that I was only able to focus my view on its logo. What a sweet piece of car! It made me want to include: "Attend Singapore's Formula1 Race" (the nearest Formula1 race to Manila) in my bucket list. Oh Ferrari, why are you so beautifullllll.

My Way or the High Way

Over the weekend, I was really determined to sweet talk everyone at home to go with me on a joyride. No destination in particular. I just want to be in a ride full of my beloved uncles, aunts and family. Why oh why? Cause it's almost summer and I have to let them feel my presence, so that should they have some fantastic vacations, they won't forget that little old silly me exists. Haha! I put on this loose black top which is reminiscent of Isabel Marant's Fall 2012 RTW button downs. Or so I think. I wore jeans for my bottom. Jeans na naman?! Jeans in school, jeans outside school too? Don't shoot me, it's just that I've to wear something that can cover up some bruises on my left leg, reminiscent of all my falling down. Hahaha. I'm trying to be witty here. Or so I think. If you by any chance thought that I'd reconsider wearing heels just because of those two tumbles, then you better stop that thought. Nothing will ever beat my cause to be taller!

Then I went over to where the red car was parked. Which background car looked more appropriate?

Yay! I finally got to say Anne Curtis' "lipstick lang ang labanan!" Hahaha. I'm not a fan of lipstick so putting on a shade as red as this is considered bravery in my book. This actually belongs to my 76 year-old grandma. Rume-red lipstick pa si lola! Estee Lauder pa ha.

A Christmas Carol

December 25, 2011

I spent majority of Christmas day on the road, celebrating with my relatives from the mother side in Quezon province in the morning then driving back to Manila to have Christmas dinner with relatives from my father side. On to what I wore: I thought my dress was perfect for the day, with its sequined details and its knit-like feel. What do you think?

I wish you all had a fun celebration of Christmas with your loved ones :)

I have to delay some posts again as I'm spending the remaining days of 2011 with my cousins. January 2012 is promising to be a very busy month for me. So 'till then!

"Not All Who Wander Are Lost" - JRR Tolkien

Last saturday, I had another first. And you know how much I look forward to all the firsts that I may possibly experience. I write them down on the books!

My parents, the most protective of them all, allowed me to go on an out of country trip with no one else but my grandma. It means, they have finally realized that I can be responsible enough to be on my own. Responsible 'enough' being the operative word. I was in Hong Kong from saturday to monday, walking all over the town, killing my toenails in the process (let me borrow your line, Lola), sight seeing, getting blisters on some of my toes, freezing to death because I wanted to prove that I can withstand cold by wearing short shorts, stopping at every store I see, maxing out the limit my parents have given me, sleeping for barely 6 hours just so I can squeeze in our quick schedule all the activities that we've planned, chatting with my Lola (confessing, rather), and ultimately having one of the best learning experiences in my life.

Of Great and the Greatest: In Words

Last Saturday, I went to school to attend an orientation on taking care of the environment. I'll show you the photos in a separate post. So Hannah, if you're reading this, please send me our photos :) Right after, I followed to where my family had lunch. Here's my whole-day uniform:

Here's my Lola Ester with me

Now let me tell you the reason for the title of this post. I was thinking, after hearing some comments and suggestions about me writing down my thoughts more extensively, what if I put up a separate blog containing nothing but pure words? It's taking me days just to post photos of where I went to or what I did here. As you might have noticed, I don't publish stories without including photos. In the word blog that I'm planning on creating, I can update as frequent as every other day and not only that, I can further enhance the languages I wish to be good at: English and French. My mom and I are about to enroll for some French lessons. She was actually good at it, until she lost all chances of speaking the language. So, there. What can you say? Do you think it's okay if I'll publish a separate blog or is it better if I just add my thoughts here even though it'll take me ages? Let me know about what you think :)

A Queen with No Crown

From Saturday

From Saturday
School has just started last week and so far, I can say that I'm enjoying it. My first two days were very very good, if not for the sudden expulsion of drinks... The good mood went on until Saturday's lunch date with my family thus I wore red. As I've said in one of my posts, I wear red when I'm feeling so good or so down.

We had our lunch in Yakimix Macapagal. I feasted on Japanese food, a favorite of mine! I remember telling my mom before that I could live forever just eating different sushis and other Japanese food. Really really delicious.

The title's from Lady Gaga's Judas. It should have been 'King with No Crown'.

P.S. Thank you to my very wonderful friends for keeping me company here in blogger. I didn't know that it was possible to follow me using twitter accounts until I saw some additional 'Followers' on my Dashboard. It was so sweet! If you don't have a blogger account, you may use your twitter accounts to keep me company here. Also, thank you to my fellow bloggers (though I would prefer to call you guys friends) for the sweet comments and following me. I appreciate all the love so very much :)
