In With the Old

Photos are starting to pile up in my Photo album so even though my brain is still on haywire, aggravating my already existing tendency to spout out incoherent thoughts, I'll try to be insightful.

First off, Happy New Year to everyone!!! I had a great holidays celebration spent with my relatives residing in the country and a few meet-ups with my closest friends in town so I hope you had an equally fantastic time.

Probably the reason a quality movie graces the Philippine mainstream cinema screen only once in a few years is that, the audience is not yet ready for anything that requires us to think, evaluate, and respond. No, really. It's the truth. The commercial aspect of producing a film outweighs its need of story depth. In a way it's understandable because sometimes, when our brains are too tired to function after a day of work, we want to see a film that will only make us laugh upfront and leave us feeling light-hearted. Who needs ideas that resonate, ideas that deconstruct, ideas that give birth to other ideas? This reasoning is exactly why we'll thrive endlessly on simple romantic comedies and rely on Hollywood films for more intellectual enlightening.

The Golden Rule in Criticizing: Don't criticise if you won't offer an alternative. I've no idea how movies are created but I know that in our country, their success is measured by the money they've generated, with reviews merely affecting a little percentage of the audience. Producers should make a pact. For every 4-5 hits they've produced, they should invest in a story-driven film. It's just fair, I think. Since they make money out of people who love going to the cinemas, they should in turn educate them. Give and take, remember? Last night, my Tito, brother, baby cousin, and I watched Bonifacio. It was great because it's the first film I've seen for so long that tells about the life of one of our national heroes, reminding me of what I learned in elementary. It had its flaws, of course. The tiniest of details were overlooked but I was willing to let it go.

Bonifacio reminded me of how rich our history as a nation is and at the same time frustrated me because I know more about other countries' history than ours.

Sometimes our closets are a big gift box. I was surprised to see a few stuff that I've long forgotten such as this green top. I wore it once in my frosh year in college and before that, during my retreat in HS. I didn't grow, did you notice?

Coxswain

2012 is almost at its finishing line. I'm wishing all of you a very happy holiday. My greetings are kind of late but still, let me have this chance to wish you all happiness, peace, and contentment; the same things that I'm wishing for myself at the moment. You reap what you sow. Clearly, there are a lot of aphorisms that I know of but vaguely understand. Let this Christmas season heal all that has to be healed. Believe in what the coming year has in store for all of us. And for what it's worth, learn from everything that has happened for they happened because they have to make us realize things that we wouldn't have thought of had they not slapped us in the face, figuratively I hope.

But anyway, Happy Holidays everyone! From the bottom of my "small and hardened" heart, thank you for being a part of my 2012. Yes, it isn't one that I'd dream of reliving but it's definitely something that made me stronger and wiser. Thank you!!! :)

Ha-ha-ha-choo Halloween!

Happy Halloween! It's the time of the year again when everyone comes up with the most creative costumes and have license to actually look stupid and adorable at the same time. I've never taken part in any Halloween party but that doesn't mean that I'm not up for it. It's just that, I am still under the guidance of my parents so when mom says I can't go, that means I shouldn't. Obedient daughter down to the core, if you must know! Haha! Besides, I have a very terrible case of cough and cold at the moment, immediate cause of which is unidentified. I've been blowing my brains out and coughing my lungs out since last week that's why I had to decline a few invites from my relatives and friends alike. I wanted to just hug my pillow and lie on my bed all day long, while playing my brother's PS3. Nothing was able to make me want to go away from my bed. Until my dad announced that he'd bring me, my brothers, and my cousins to Tagaytay for some early Christmas shopping. I've always known shopping is a universal cure. Hahaha.

We stopped by the centers in Sta. Rosa, which I have to say are becoming more and more appealing than the malls in Manila. Imagine having stores such as Giordano, Debenhams, La Senza, Aldo, Nine West, Designer's Blvd., and many others without the car and human traffics.

Had dinner in Taalena in Tagaytay. It was too cold that night and I didn't want to worsen my condition. My solution? Bundle up!

It's my school project but I think, it's worth sharing here.
Have a meaningful Holy Week, friends! :)

I'll be spending mine in the province. By the time I'm back, I promise I'll have everything in my comments box sorted. But do know that I've read all of them already and I am beyond pleased at all the kind words. Please bear with my immediate hiatus for the mean time. Thank you.

Let me have this opportunity to thank everyone who has made 2011 one hell of a year for me. I've so much to be thankful for and on top of them, it's you guys that I'm greatly indebted to. You guys know who you are :) I know I'm moody, erratic, irritable, senseless at times, and what-have-you that's why I'm beyond grateful for all the understanding and love you've showered me with. Thank you, thank you, and thank you! :)

On my next entry, I'll make a quick recap of the 12 most memorable moments of 2011.

Year - Ender

I'm doing some cleaning up, all to my mom's delight. And one of the things I want to 'make over' is my laptop. All the essays and school papers that I have worked on patiently for my past two terms in college need to go already. So, tata! After 2 hours and a half, (well I wasn't able to resist reading all my compositions again. And damn, I think I'm good! How can my English teacher give me a 95 in an essay I've comically worked on which talks about dinosaurs! Dinosaurs, you hear me? Dinosaurs, what a suitable topic for a college student. What's up with that. I would have published it on line had I the guts to do so. Hmm, think about Pinky Weatherton of Carrie Bradshaw. I might publish my dinosaur essay after all. Talk about self-righteousness again HAHAHA), I have few more spaces for future compositions. After too much self praising and all, I opened the folder solely dedicated for pictures. My story ends here, open and unsolved :)) What's up with that. And oh, you might see a lot of What's up with that in my entries from now on. It sort of stuck in my head since I've been using it pretty much for the past weeks. I wonder what expression will I be using next time. Any suggestions? :)

2010 has been one hell of a year for me. A lot has changed. And I'm definite that a whole lot of things is going to change soon. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE :)

Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future

We decided to take an obligatory Christmas shoot, the best way to extend our holiday spirits to everyone else. As you can see, La Salle was already quiet then. All classes have ended, everyone's starting to enjoy the Christmas break.

Holiday Greetings from Gellie, Lina and Hannah!
