The Two Constants

Because of my usual lazy state, I've practiced not to post photos and stories that only chronicle my activities with friends that do not have anything to do with any outfit shots. But since I've posted about Lina and I's swimming activity before, I'll just post about our recent swimming date again. This time, my best friend Karen and Lina's sister Laura joined us. See, Lina and Karen are my life's two constant. I seldom see anyone else aside from them but it doesn't really matter since their company more than makes up for the lack of quantity.

Swimsuit: River Island

We stayed in Sofitel courtesy of Lina's mom. I rarely swim because as I've said plenty of times, I don't know how to aside from I dislike the inconvenience of waiting turns before I can change into dry clothes once more. But if the place is as inviting and luxurious as Sofitel, let my preferences be damned. Haha! We lounged around the lawn facing the Manila Bay in which our photos were beautifully illuminated by the sunset. Right after, we slipped into our onesies and roamed around the hotel like "furry animals in the wild", as Laura described us. I'll be posting photos of our next hotel destination!

Coffee Date

I'm in a desperate position at the moment so even though I'm still sporting my long hair in the first photoset and the outfit is only an incidental accessory, not the focal point of the story, just let it slide and chalk it up to my laziness to take more recent photos.

I love meeting friends over a cup of tea, though the word 'tea' has different connotations depending on who I'm sharing it with. (With my HS friends, it's never been just the comforting kind.) I rarely drink coffee so to me, tea is my cup of tea. But there were a few instances that I had to pick coffee over my all-time favorite because we purposefully sought out certain coffee shops to sample their trendy handcrafted beverages. The list of the coffee places we'd like to try is HERE.

Up to this day, it still amazes me whenever Lina and I wear clothes in the same hue. We've never discussed what we'll wear beforehand so it's fascinating when we find ourselves facing each other with the same "we're matchy matchy today!" expression. Of course, things got funnier when her boyfriend Julian showed up in the same green and white combo. Should I say that we're just a bunch of kids who pay their respects to their beloved Alma Mater by wearing its official colors? Haha!

Months later, we met up again for a quick break from our daily engagements. This time, we checked in in Intercontinental Hotel.

Having read plenty of courtroom novels, there's one thing that I came to realize. The law provides rules to ensure that the citizens would live only within the structure. Once someone goes astray, there will be consequences equivalent to the weight of the action. What the law doesn't state but implies is that, most of the time, it equivocates in favor of the argument that best tugs at the emotional level. Let's call this emotional loophole. A person who's being tried for murder can get away with it if the lawyers are cunning enough to design a strategy that will appeal to the judge or the jury's emotions. (Yes, I'm referencing to a sensational case.) It really pays to be manipulative, isn't? It makes me think that a case's success lies not on the evidences but on how crafty the lawyer is, may it be the prosecutor or the DA. A person whose IQ is only average shouldn't be allowed to enter the law school, right?

We all live in a world where butterflies exist and flowers bloom while elsewhere, there lies a body that's been robbed off of its breath just seconds ago. I'm not being morbid. I'm plainly stating facts. Picoult succinctly explained why there are deviations in the society. "There couldn't be a bad guy unless there was a good guy to create the standard. And there couldn't be a good guy until a bad guy showed just how far off the path he might stray."

My very very very close friend Lina, who's currently in her first year in law school, is among my few friends who tolerate me when I start inquiring about murder cases and for added awesomeness, she gives sound opinions and corrections. See, one moment I would endlessly search about gory cases and the next I would obsess on what mundane article of clothing to buy next. Hahaha.

Thanks for the photos, Lins!

Travel Philippines: Boracay, Kalibo, Aklan

Arrived with Excitement, Left in Need of Psychiatrist

If someone would hire me as an advertiser, or a marketer for that matter, of the summer paradise of the Philippines known as Boracay, I would greatly capitalize on what I've written as my title. I wish I can share photos that show the beauty of the place with the natural sunlight highlighting the powdery white sand or the clear blue waters but I guess we all have to settle for second best: seeing Bora's take once the sun sets in. It's magical, but in a spectrum different from what beaches are normally admired for. I brought my trusty camera along, after too much pestering from my two close friends Karen Soledad and Jana Medel, but it had to take backstage most of the time because we were too lazy to carry it around and stop from time to time just to take a snapshot of our background or what we were wearing. I mean, I'm aware that I'm big with documentation and everything that goes with it but only IF I'm with someone who's willing to do it for me. If it's me who'll be inconvenienced, it's as good as saying PASS. Sorry, I'm not really the nicest person out there. Harhar!

My personal record of functioning for 37 hours straight without sleeping was bested during this trip. My best friend and I unthinkingly booked for the most impossible flights going to and from our destination causing us stress, frustration, and more expenses. We learned the hard way that there's such thing as wise saving up and bad way to do it. The money that we thought we've successfully saved up by choosing early morning flights wasn't enough to compensate for all the agonizing conditions it had put us under. All in all, S and I didn't sleep for almost 50 hours straight. No kidding.

We were supposed to Cliff Dive but after doing this activity called Flying Fish, every thought of trying another activity fled our minds. This was insane! If you've never tried somersaulting, then try this.

We stayed there for almost 6 days and let me tell you I didn't get tanned. I got dark!!! We met plenty of familiar faces who are also from Taft. That's what's so good with this place. Anywhere you'll go, you'll bump into someone whom you're only acquaintances with in average day but whatever's holding you back from befriending them instantly vanishes with just a few swigs of good drinks. Just like my experience in this place with Jana a few years ago, I enjoyed immensely. A lot of things happened that until now, or maybe even forever, will haunt my friends and I. There were a few faulty decisions but in the end, I cannot bring myself to regret them. After all, I just let myself get immersed in the magic of the place :)

Team Building in Thailand - Night Life 2

We couldn't put Hannah's bikinis to waste so we slipped in them and jumped into the pool. Swimming for dummies. Or rather, two swimmers and a dummy. Unfortunately, I am the dummy as I wasn't able to swim any farther from my square.
