I'm a 90s Kid!

When I was a kid, I obsessed heavily on Blue's Clues. Steve was my hero and Blue was my smart aleck friend. Then I was introduced to Cartoon Network's Dexter's Lab, Ed, Edd & Eddy, Johnny Bravo, and Tom & Jerry. Of course I watched plenty of Micky Mouse and his friends as well as almost all of its animated movies just because my mom believes I'm a princess too. Before the 90s was over, I got hooked on animes. I blame it on my brothers who watched nonstop the likes of Dragon Ball, Yuyu Hakushu, Detective Conan, Pokemon, and my favorite, Fushigi Yuugi. Fast forward to today, I am no longer glued to the TV as much as before but whenever I chance upon reruns of the aforementioned shows, I can't help but get entertained by them once more. I guess once you've liked something, you'll end up liking it forever. At least in TV shows, that is.

I have a thing for cropped tops. And it's not because I'm proud enough of my stomach (which I'm definitely not since it's bulging) to show it off whenever I raise my arms but because its length is just right for me. My torso (my entirety, actually) is short compared to average girls so a cropped top on me looks like a top I've just outgrown a little. Ergo, it falls wonderfully on me.

Almost on a weekly basis, against all odds (and by odds I mean all schedule stoppage including, but not limited to, classes and intern work), we find time to meet. If we have to cut other prior arrangements, we do just so we can spend a few hours with each other. It's a trait we've acquired and eventually mastered from High School. It's not academically good, but it works for us. To each his own! Haha! I think everyone of us needs a psychiatrist one way or another. Not to sound redundant, although I mostly am, but I seriously believe we each have done something that we would rather bring to our graves than be known by anyone. Except of course when there was someone else who was involved or even just witnessed the happening of such ardent matter. Normally in my case, it's always with Karen Soledad that these things occur. I may have plenty of numbers in my mobile whom I can call and text anytime for a quick chitchat but I only consider a handful of persons to really get close to me. What can I say, I have a lot of issues that stemmed from no reasons whatsoever. Haha!

Our normal hang out is consisted of lunch/dinner, desserts and coffee/tea, and a few drinks.

Have you also noticed how poor the quality of my outfit photos is? Not to worry for they will soon be changed as I am expecting a better camera. But as I have lots of backlog photos at the moment, the newer sets would be posted here sometime in May or June.

What's Up, Doc?

Today I'm going to summarize what my thesis and internship were all about. From September 16 to December 7 of last year, my thesismates - Hannah, Bianca, and Kim - and I's worlds revolved around the brand Dr. Martens. We wrote a marketing plan that will be useful for the company effective January 2014. To do this, we had to spend 200 hours each in the store located in Fort Bonifacio doing all sorts of things that are expected of interns. Although to be fair, I only did around a hundred and a half hours so for all practical purposes, my groupmates did most of the job done when it came to working. However, I did a rather splendid job in our thesis paper as well as during the defense, or so they told me. (I don't believe in false humility. Credit should be given to where it is due).

Dr. Martens has always believed in creativity and self-expression. It supports and encourages artists to express themselves through artworks in any form. One of the events we helped out in was the photo exhibit it hosted sometime in September. It showcased works of different photographers where the iconic Dr Martens shoes were the highlights. To celebrate our first event together as a group as well as our first sleep-over, we went somewhere else after.

Almost every two weeks, the store's lay-out changes. Hats off to the brand's managers especially to Julius who's behind the ever-changing displays. Also, did you get the How I Met Your Mother vibe from the sofa set like I did?

It's just right to end this post with a photo taken after we successfully defended our thesis paper. With us are the members of the panel: (from L-R) Andrew Garcia and Borgy Manotoc (owners of Dr Martens Philippines. Andrew is also a La Sallian), Sir Quito and Sir Jay (Marketing professors). This has also been the last academic day of my college years.

We may not have a photo with our thesis mentor, Ms. Lysa Sanchez, but I wouldn't dare recall this entire trip without thanking her for all the help she has extended to us. From our weekly meetings in fancy restaurants which she always ended up paying for, to our online discussion where she'd always found errors in, we couldn't have gotten a good grade without her help. Cheers, Ms. Lysa!

To close this, I'm going to lift a paragraph from our paper. I'm plagiarizing, I know, but at least I'm plagiarizing myself. Haha!

"Over the years, DMs' association with different groups, ranging from working class to Punks to the more contemporary youth, was able to carry on. The stories attached to the brand will never be erased and will live on in each of the new generation of users. Though the once held perceptions of the brand are not as strong as in the present time, the stigma of its predecessors particularly its rebelliousness against an existing paradigm endures."

Some of the photos were gotten from others.

Ladies Who Do No Wrong: Miroslava Duma

You know what I like most about her?

When you stand below 5'4 and still decide on wearing flats during fashion week, you have my respect. She debunks all rules that are considered big No-Nos for seriously petite girls like myself. What do you mean with "don't wear overwhelming prints?" or "avoid clashing colors"? You haven't been acquainted with Miroslava Duma, have you? Allow me to present my Top 16 picks. Let Mira show you how it's done, 5 foot flat style.

It doesn't hurt, of course, that when you search for all her sartorial choices, her name is almost synonymous to Hermes. This girl has the most-coveted bag in almost all sizes and colors!

This is going to be the first of the Ladies Who Do No Wrong series.
All these photos are pinned under the Miroslava Duma board in my Pinterest.
