Parallel Universe

Let's just assume for a moment that in a parallel universe there's the more diligent and responsible version of myself. She does all the things that she's supposed to do on time and she doesn't make excuses to avoid getting caught.

Hello everyone!!! I am now updating my page as it has dawned on me that it's already the end of February. It feels as though January has just passed. If not for the wake up call, aka Midterm Week, I wouldn't have thought that March is approaching! Whew talk about living under a rock. Anyway, since I've a major catching up to do, I decided to just upload some of the photos that were supposed to be in separate posts had I followed my self-made rule to post every three days. Sorry, I'm the best slacker in the world. (I would never tell my future boss about this blog as s/he might see this Hahaha) Oh! I suggest you listen to Justin Timberlake's old school songs, i.e LoveStoned, Cry Me a River, What Goes Around Comes Around, Sexy Back, My Love, while reading everything in this post, just like what I'm doing as I'm typing now. Good vibes, good vibes.

Christmas 2012's homily was by far the coolest homily I've witnessed. Instead of delivering the usual talk, Fernbrook Garden's officiating priest sang with his choir. He's just that cool :)

Over the weekend, the family went to Mercato to feast on, what else, a smorgasbord of food. I wore this oversized sweater in anticipation of the coming food bump.

I'm probably one of the most dense persons in the entire world. The truth could practically stare at my face and I wouldn't have known it's the actual truth.

These Arms Can Kill

That's one self-disapproving title, is it not?
 photo rsz_13_zps1996f2e6.jpg
If I've any physical insecurity aside from my obvious lack of height, it would be my humongous arms! I mean, they've never been toned and fit. Well, except during my cheerleader days where our coach used to kill us every training day. No one's 'killing' me now and I've a low self-imposed push to 'kill' myself so as a result, all my food intakes are going straight, not to my stomach, but to my arms. I'm not even kidding.
 photo IMG_1919-2_zps9f1a41f9.jpg
My favorite cousin of all time Alissa Peralta (I just have to be honest on this fact) challenged me to go to school wearing sleeveless. Wear it loud and proud, she said. Ever the pushover, I gave it a try. I wore my biggest pair of pants thinking that if I look bottom-heavy, my arms won't be too noticeable. I didn't go for my tight tank tops as fitted clothes might further emphasize what I'm actually hiding so I rummaged through my closet for a better top. I found this sweet reporter-inspired vest that I haven't seen for a long time. I bought it from one of my favorite stores back in High School, Lulu Castagnette. Inspecting its wearability brought back memories of the first and only time I've worn it - my trip to Boracay with my good friend Jana Medel and her family. Coincidentally, we're planning a similar getaway this coming summer. I'm excited for it!!!

How did my day in school end, you might ask? After attending my first class, I hurriedly went home! Hahaha I didn't continue with the rest of my classes that day. Cut me some slack. I'm too shy to continue with my day. I'm paying more attention to my cute arms rather than listening to my professors. Silly silly me! And for the record, can I just say that these pictures are fake. I look way taller here than in person. Yup, since I'm dishing my physical flaws already, why not go all out right? So there you have it, I'm short and I've big arms. Can someone kill me now? Huhuhu
 photo IMG_1908-2_zps04b53f92.jpg
Like what Fat Amy of Pitch Perfect said, it's alright to admit our flaws. In that way, others won't have to do it behind our backs. Besides, no amount of putting me down can actually put me down. I simply operate that way, no excuses. I'm not a fan of false humility. When I say something is pretty, it's because I think that it is indeed pretty. When I say it's not, I mean it. Oops! I'm talking too much again. I'm out now!

When the Cat is Away, the Mouse Comes Out to Play

Over the weekend, we had an advanced send-off celebration for my forever-young grandmom, Lala Ester. She's about to continue her 'apostolic duties', i.e. take care of her grandchildren, in a matter of few days. Mom, Kuya Gian (appointed driver for the night), Tito Ian, and I brought Lala to Laffline comedy bar for a night of laughter and entertainment. Luckily, the night's main star is none other than the phenomenal Vice Ganda. I'm not exactly a fan but after watching her in action, I've to admit I was beyond impressed with the speed of her comeback. My jaws literally dropped at how quick-witted and riotous she is. What a witty human being!

My dad wasn't with us that night as he was on an out of town client call. His absence gave me an excuse to wear one of my shortest shorts. Some may not find anything offensive with the length of my bottoms but leave it to my parents, most especially my dad, to feel affronted with seeing me in something like this. After explaining to my mom why I had to wear this, backed up with my Lala's prodding as she's asked me to don this pair of shorts long time ago, I was allowed to step out of our house without changing. Now you might be asking, why am I making such a big fuss out of this? Again, this is a first! Pagbigyan niyo na please Hahahaha. I'm a living proof of the saying that when the cat is away, the mouse comes out to play.

It used to be as easy as flipping a coin. What changed? Who changed? Oh, right. I am perpetually 'evolving'.

Crepuscular

What was supposed to be a normal day in the mall ended up to be an advanced birthday celebration for my Tito Roy. He was supposed to turn 46 years old last 29th January. DID YOU KNOW THAT... had I been born on the day that the doctor diagnosed, my birthday would've been on January 29 too?
Photobucket
If I only knew that we were heading for the Columbarium, I never would have worn shorts. It's a good thing I was wearing a more decent top, and not my usual slouchy shirts. After all, I thought we were going to the mall. I dress appropriately at all times given that my parents are very conservative; this has actually been the first that I failed to respect the sanctity of the place. But remember my views on dressing up? You've to admit, I looked more like a child rather than the adult that I already am. Haha!

I never quite understood the logic that says we must strive to be the best version of ourselves. How can I, when it comes hand in hand with another logic that says we must be contented with our lot? Who draws the line between being too ambitious and just ambitious enough?

Aren't you finding my title so cool? (wink wink, nudge nudge) Nose bleed diba? Hahaha! It's actually one of those words that I had to Google because I've never encountered such word in any book that I've read before. I am not a vocabulary wizard but as what my English teachers/professors and some online tests said, I know quite a handful of highfalutin words. Naks! Feeling matalino na naman ako. But when my Great Works professor instructed me to read  John Luis Borges' Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius, I found myself going in circles. I couldn't understand the main point of the narrative nor could I apply context clues in deciphering the meanings of the words the author use. It's too intellectual and too philosophical for my brain. Enter Plan B. If all else fails, Google it! I did. I found out that the story was all about a missing part of an old version of the Britannica Encyclopedia which deals about a certain world. This world, which is called Tlon, is assumed to be a conspiracy between intellectuals. If you're up for any mind-fuck article, I suggest you read this. I'm going to post my reflection paper on this subject in my Storylane account soon :)
