My Birthday Celebration

High School never ends! It never did, and it never will.

I organized an overnight party where I invited my favorite people from HS. It was soooo fun reliving our crazy "habits" and introducing new ones. I guess that's what makes reunions memorable - the fact that even after months have passed, it feels as though there hasn't been any distance.

Breaking Bad

Here's what I wore to school last Tuesday, of course sans the heels and the sunnies.

This is in honor of my favorite show that had got me hooked since day 1 - Breaking Bad. Let it be said that I am not a fan of TV series. But as always, there is an exception. I've religiously followed the drug-wonder, pun intended, Breaking Bad. It's something that I can highly recommend to those who are like me, those who are not well-acquainted with TV shows. There are a lot of them that have piqued my interest, namely Homeland, Game of Thrones, House, The Firm, Girls, Carrie Diaries, Revenge, The Hamster Wheel, to name a few, but despite my curiosity, I can't find the time to wait for them to be downloaded and the patience to finish season after season. I'd rather watch movies incessantly or read materials that are fascinating.

If there's anything that I'd castigate myself about, it's that I never learn. I keep on repeating the same mistakes over and over. I mean, is it really so bad that I give almost everyone a second chance? That I still keep my hopes up with things that have let me down before already? It's always been a cycle. One thing promises, I hope. It fails, I fall apart. Everything gets stagnant for a while. And then here it comes, promising once again. I start to hope once again. But just like clockwork, it disappoints in the end.

Here on, I'm going to divide my outfit posts into three parts: about what I'm wearing, my thoughts at that specific moment, and random observations. I kind of missed my Train of Thought Series so I decided to resurrect it through short but precise words, without divulging everything of course.

I Wasn't Born for the Rose and Pearl

Geez, why are the days seem to be on constant fast forward mode??? I haven't even caught up with updating my virtual life and here are the requirements my subjects are demanding for this term piling up higher and higher as each day passes. But no, as much as I sound whiny, irritated, and downright ungrateful for the things that are keeping me busy, I'd like to focus on the positive side of this all - which is, something is keeping me from being bored. And trust me when I say that I tend to do damaging things whenever boredom strikes me. Besides, there's no use in stressing over little things, I realize because at the end of the day, no one gets frustrated about the situation as much as I do. On top of my 2013 Resolutions is to not sweat the small stuff. This is exactly what I'm doing.

Les Miserables lived up to the hype!!! I didn't notice that more than two and a half hours had already passed when the credits rolled on. Don't worry, I was able to restrain myself from singing aloud the songs and settled with singing soundless. 'twas definitely a remarkable movie.

Here's what I wore when Lala, Kuya and I watched. This white top was so huge on my tiny frame that I had to resort to using safety pins to somehow make it less bulky. Not minding its size, this has actually elevated to my Favorite Clothes set because of its flowers and pearls. They added just the right touch of vintage. I also liked the length of the sleeves and the fabric. In short, I liked everything about it! I was supposed to entitle this post "There are storms that we cannot weather" as it is my favorite line from I Dreamed a Dream but then thought that the line I chose, which by the way come from the musical Wicked's 'I'm Not That Girl', is more fitting, what with the actual rose and pearls from my top. I'm definitely amused with everything about musical.

The Irony of It All

These pictures were taken a few days before Christmas and though it's supposed to be cold and chilly, weather in Manila was the exact opposite. The blazing heat from the sun felt like that of the heat emanating every summer time. It was ridiculous. I decided to wear this seemingly hot wool dress for that Christmas-prefect vibe and intentionally left my pants at home (my dad kept on commenting that I looked as if I've forgotten to wear pants) to lessen the discomfort brought about by the weather. Extra point for the dress for its polka dots which as we all know is a sign for good luck. Maybe this is why my 2013 is by far proving to be a good one :)

And the irony of it all is that, the weather now is what I've been asking for since the Christmas season kicked in - it's perfectly chilly now!

Story Lane

A few weeks ago, I got an invite to join Storylane. I got to think, I wanted to save the last papers I'll work on as a student somewhere I can have access to every once in a while. I've exactly a year left before graduating and I reckon, now is the best time to start the saving up.

Thailand Reflection Paper
(Excerpt:)
It wasn’t my first time to be in Thailand nor was it my first time to be on an out of country trip without my parents. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t even remember anything remarkable from my first time in Thailand. So I wonder, how come I still felt too giddy and too excited for the trip?
On the day of the actual flight, my friend Hannah and I decided to meet at the airport quearter to 6 but considering how late my watch works, I arrived at 7:30PM, just in time for the proper checking-in if it was a usual trip, and just in time before Hannah’s eyeballs turn to white. When we touched down in Bangkok, it was around 1AM, the prime of the night. With depleted energy and stiff neck to boot, Hannah and I spent our first night sleeping.
Our first group work was to attend the talk arranged by the owners of Krispy Kreme Thailand. How the owners discussed the idea behind their franchise of the brand sounded cool and up to a certain extent, inspiring. It’s not everyday that I get to hear someone say “I love the doughnuts so much that instead of driving for hours just to buy a few boxes, I decided to bring the doughnuts close to me”. The couple could’ve put Krispy Kreme Thailand’s beginning appear light but their words made an impact on me. So much so that I want to someday also have the capability to say that “in order to save trips, I bought the entire store instead”.
The trip to Ayutthaya provided the cameras we’ve brought a chance to capture picturesque photographs and us to see parts of the Thai culture. I wouldn’t sugarcoat the trip by saying that it was so fun when in truth, I thought that after seeing one ruin or one temple or one artifact, I’m done. Once you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. Besides, the sun was draining all the energy and enthusiasm that I had. Yes, our cameras have been satisfied. But my thirst for seeing more of Thailand wasn’t.

Birthday Dinner

A family that is a lover of food, for every birthday and occasion that we celebrate, we make it a point to try restaurants where reputable chefs are the head cook and that the ambiance calls for exclusivity. For my birthday dinner, my family and I reserved a table in Buenisimo by Cafe Ysabel. Their food are prepared by Chefs Gene, Gino and Giannina Gonzalez, so any diner could expect highly of the overall taste and presentation of the gourmet dishes. As for the place, I'd produly recommend it to anyone who has people-anxiety from time to time, just like me and my family. Besides, have I told you I've a soft spot for anyone whose name starts with a G? ;)
