Ha-ha-ha-choo Halloween!

Happy Halloween! It's the time of the year again when everyone comes up with the most creative costumes and have license to actually look stupid and adorable at the same time. I've never taken part in any Halloween party but that doesn't mean that I'm not up for it. It's just that, I am still under the guidance of my parents so when mom says I can't go, that means I shouldn't. Obedient daughter down to the core, if you must know! Haha! Besides, I have a very terrible case of cough and cold at the moment, immediate cause of which is unidentified. I've been blowing my brains out and coughing my lungs out since last week that's why I had to decline a few invites from my relatives and friends alike. I wanted to just hug my pillow and lie on my bed all day long, while playing my brother's PS3. Nothing was able to make me want to go away from my bed. Until my dad announced that he'd bring me, my brothers, and my cousins to Tagaytay for some early Christmas shopping. I've always known shopping is a universal cure. Hahaha.

We stopped by the centers in Sta. Rosa, which I have to say are becoming more and more appealing than the malls in Manila. Imagine having stores such as Giordano, Debenhams, La Senza, Aldo, Nine West, Designer's Blvd., and many others without the car and human traffics.

Had dinner in Taalena in Tagaytay. It was too cold that night and I didn't want to worsen my condition. My solution? Bundle up!

Immortalized

In my bucketlist, I only have three dream pictures. Finally, I've put a check mark in the box of one of them. I've always wanted to have my youth immortalized; my years-long braces, included. Although I think that wouldn't be necessary as others keep on telling me that I'd forever look young as I have the face and the height of a baby. Kainis diba! Harhar. Let me continue with what I was saying anyway. I've been to a lot of places where life-size portraits of the woman of the house hang perfectly on the walls. The more vintage the portrait is, the more drawn I am to it. Others say it's scary. But for me, I find it mysterious. And regal. Imagine having your future grandkids talk about your picture taken when you were in your teenage years. My paternal grandmom has this sketched portrait of herself when she was in her 20s. It looks so dramatic and so enthralling that the moment I saw it, I knew I have to have one too. And I did. Only, mine wasn't in the classic black and white.

Second Guessing

When I planned my schedule for this term, I was thinking that it'd be not only a piece of cake but just an icing of the cake. It's too easy, it's going to make me cry. I only have three subjects during Mondays and Wednesdays and one subject every Tuesdays and Thursdays. Easy, right? Wrong! It's seeping whatever is left of my "diligent school girl" juice. It's such a bum schedule that instead of focusing on the minute details, I focus on what I'm going to do with my free hours. I've plenty of it, obviously. I could've read my law book since my knowledge of the subject is behind what is expected of me, organized my closet which has been reminiscent of a battle zone for weeks now, stacked my shoes in their transparent cases, posted a few stories here, wrote some personal anecdotes in my diary, or just done something that would have benefited me in the long run. But if I did, then that would be totally surprising, wouldn't it? As surprising as me coming to class early. I hate breaking expectations of me, so no, I don't regret not doing anything. I'm out now, before I further confess what's bothering me. Haha!

I'm not saying that there's nothing wrong. It's just that, I refuse to believe that it's wrong. Even if I doubted it myself. Especially because I doubted it myself.

A Contradiction That Ricochets

Photobucket
My mom asked me to claim her passport from the Korean Embassy last friday which is located in McKinley Hill. After doing what I've been told, I went to the mall to do two things: first is to check out the shops that I love and see if I can take home some new things with me. And second, to go to the bookstore and write my heart out.

Photobucket
I salute the women who can stand in their 5 inch shoes for more than 5 hours. I've been practicing for that talent but my feet could only take so much. And since I didn't bring any flats that I could slip in, I had to buy a new pair. Or maybe, leaving behind flats even though I knew I'd walk for several hours was intentional on my part. That I didn't bother to bring anything at all so that I could have an excuse to buy a new one. Whatever it was, the bottomline made me happy: I have a new pair.

Photobucket
I've decided to chop off my hair and just embrace it in its pure glory. Tada! No more artificial color, and no more long tresses.

My world could crumble down under my feet but no one will ever know when it's already happening. For someone who speaks her mind all the time, unsolicited opinions or otherwise, I do the shutting up like a pro.

Code Red

August to November is supposed to be the blog's peak season. Only because it's during these months that I am at my productive stage. And when I say productive, it means that I don't overlook taking pictures of what I wore for the day and post them here afterwards. But then perhaps I slacked too long that I didn't notice the days were passing by so quickly and this diary has been left bereft. Anyhoo, here I am, present. And very eager to share the photos and stories I've left in my drafts.

Photobucket
Last 9 October, we celebrated my brother Gio's birthday. I followed them to Tajimaya in Mall of Asia right after my night classes. I decided to do an all-out red outfit because I couldn't let my rainbow brothers upstage me. Imagine my shock when I saw them in their colored pants while I was in my plain white shift dress. I couldn't let it go away and so I searched for the boldest red dress that I have. Tada! I found this knit dress which I wore last Christmas. I'm as colorful as my brothers already. Haha!

Past The Point of No Return

Past the point of no return, no backward glances
The games we played 'til now are at an end
Past all thought of 'If' or 'When', no use resisting
Abandon thought and let the dream descend

I'm still on high! Along with my Lala Ester, who has just arrived in the country from her half a year 'babysitting vacation', my classmate Kim, and her sister Bea, I watched The Phantom of the Opera at the CCP Theater last 6 October. It was such a heart-warming production and was beautifully orchestrated that I want to convince everyone around me to catch the remaining shows before it finally conclude on the 14th. Every penny you'll spend on it, absolutely down to the last nickel, will be worth it, I assure you. Very worth it, in fact, that even if you catch only the Act II and a few minutes of Act I, you still won't consider it a waste. Take it from me, someone who was 40 minutes late! I wasn't able to anticipate the traffic build-up and knowing CCP, I knew they wouldn't budge even if majority of their audience are not there. Lo and behold, we were allowed to enter the theater when Act I was almost over and were asked to stay on the stairs on the sides cause should we proceed to our assigned seats, it would be highly disruptive as ours seats were only two rows away from the front and center. If there's anything I learned from this experience, it would be: Never trust Manila traffic. Seriously.

Dress used as top: Topshop| Skirt: Greenhills| Flower brooch: Forever21| Shoes: Mango
I love watching plays. I love the drama, the costume, the set design, the characters, the orchestra, and even the simple opening and closing of the curtain. Above all, I love dressing for plays. I seldom get to wear fancy dresses so when there's an opportunity for me to do so, I grab it wholeheartedly. For this day's event, I chose to wear my almost forgotten embellished dress from Topshop but since the show was at 3PM, I had to tune down the formality. What better way to do that but to add this frilly skirt I found in Greenhills. Added a flower brooch and I was good to go.

Couldn't resist not asking my Lala to buy me the Phantom's mask.

Think of me, think of me fondly
When we've said goodbye
Remember me once in a while
Please promise me, you'll try
- Think of Me

Say you'll love me every waking moment
Turn my head with talk of summer time
Say you need me with you now and always
Promise me that all you say is true
That's all I ask of you
- All I Ask of You

See, this is exactly why I couldn't tell all my friends about this blog. I keep on posting all my psychobabble bullshits (I credit the term to Jodi Picoult. Jodi Picoult na naman? Wala na bang katapusan yan? Well, remember the fanmail I sent her that I storied here? She replied! She freaking replied to me. So kilig!!!)

Thanks to Lala Ester  for all the photos

Alexander McQueen: Genius of a Generation by Kristin Knox and Archie Marries by Michael Uslan
The McQueen book is one of the items in my Christmas 2011 wishlist, so seeing it still on the shelves of Fully Booked was such a treat. As for the Archie Marries, I've been a fan of this comics eversince I could read. I'm one of those many readers who are entangled in the Betty-Archie-Veronica love triangle so upon seeing just the title, I knew I had to read it and solve the mystery once and for all. And not to mention this was authored by Michael Uslan, one of the writers behind the very prolific film The Dark Knight.

My latest book purchases: Sex and the City 2 and Niccolo Machiavelli's The Prince. I love these books, they were so influential! I found myself reading nonstop my new Bible - The Prince. Everything written in it was so practical. A Machiavellian believer right here.
